FAQ

So Is It Worth It?

Absolutely! I can’t believe the difference in my son.
Within a few weeks of starting the diet we started to notice little differences.
He was suddenly saying words he’d never said before, important words like “I” and “me”.
I’ll never forget the evening he suddenly said “I’m so happy”. It made me cry.
We started noticing that we were having more and more consecutive “good” days than “bad” days with him.
His mood was more stable, his meltdowns were lessening and his frustration levels were decreasing. His obsessions also lessened. We noticed less of the stereotypical behaviour usually associated with autism.
He also seemed physically healthier. His bowel movements became normal. The dark circles under his eyes started to lighten. We also noticed that he doesn’t get sick as often.
It has really been amazing for our family.

Can This Diet Cure Autism?

This diet is not a cure for autism. My son is still autistic.
But the progress we have seen is incredible.
And as I’m sure you know, any improvement for your child, is also an improvement for the entire family.
Less meltdowns, less mood swings, less behavioural challenges and less frustration for your child means less stress for you.

Does Everyone See Results?

It’s important to keep in mind, that just like the symptoms of autism are individual for each child, the results you will see on this diet will also be very individual.
Some people will see huge changes, some will see small changes and some may not see changes at all.
But my feeling is that if there is even a chance that this will help your child and your family then why not give it a try? It can’t hurt your child, and will hopefully be very beneficial for them.

How Do You Know the Diet is Responsible for Improvements?

We started this diet a year before we started any behavioural therapies.
After starting this diet we also started chiropractic and cranial-sacral therapy for my son, but we had already begun to see the results of the diet at this point.
We’ve added other interventions, both biomedical and behavioural over the years but the GFCF diet remains at the core of our care plan for our son.

Can A Vegetarian Family Commit to this Diet?

Yes, definitely.
At this time I am working on a package for families who require vegetarian recipes and meal plans. Please contact me if you are interested in a vegetarian package and I will let you know when one becomes available.
